Power for airspace... straight from a 5,000 hour flight instructor!!

LMAO

Make that read, pitch for altitude, power for airspeed, straight from a 58,000 flight instructor.

Sorry . . . . .
Lovely story. Story putting GA is a excellent light instead of instead of mongering about attacks on "nukular" plants, TFRs being busted, falling from the sky and crashing into schools.

And some %)((*^%$%&*^ comes along and uses it as an excuse to start another stupid pitch/power argument.

It was a great story . . . .

. . . . and no one was trying to start any arguments. If someone like Evelyn, with her experience and knowledge, says something, it's good enough for me.

Strom Thurmond had 50+ years in Washington. It didn't automatically make him good at it.

Personally I don't believe she has 58000 hours. That works out to be almost 1000 hours a year since she started. 1000 a year every year for the last 60 years. It may be true but I'm more than a little skeptical. If she has, well, then good for her.

I don't know, Caveman. Politicians won't die in a fiery blaze if they are bad at what they do. (At least not literally.)

She's lasted 58,000 hours without killing herself. I'd say the chances are better than 2 to 1 that she's a decent pilot.

I'll tell you what, if she told me that lift was caused by little green fairies holding up the plane, I'd probably take a look to see if it were true.

Logged hours

I'm sure she has that many hours. I had a check airman once with 43K and he was nowhere near 94 years old.... also worked for guys with 35 up to 38K hours and they still got lots of tread left too.

I admire 'em for making it.

On the flip side, I also know a guy with almost 20K hours that scared me half to death once on a pretty routine flight, I wouldn't want to go anywhere with him and I still hear stories about him.

Why in the world would a 94 year old lady lie about how many hours she has, very unlikely and not probable. If anything the 58,000 is probably on the low end.

Great story,

I dunno, so maybe they could claim to be the person with the highest number of logged hours? Look, I'm not accusing her of that or anything else nefarious. I'm just a little bit skeptical that she really has that much flight time. I'm not asking her to prove it. She can claim what she wants, but just because she's some sweet little old lady doesn't mean I have to jump on the 'Ain't She Great' bandwagon. She's probably a fine person and a good pilot. Probably makes a pretty decent apple pie too. I just doubt that she has accrued 58000 hours in the air.

They do in parts of Western Africa.
