Any words of advice? Been to Nasau, Berry Island Chains, the relatively closer islands. I'm guessing my cell wont work, and filing will be done on a land line made "easily" available to crew? or at least a pay phone, hopefully?

I've been to some of these islands where there was only one working payphone, so I'm not sure what to expect from the Exuma's. Doing my homework...any help is always appreciated.

I do have an 8 man raft and no HF.

I was just in Eleuthera, we had to rent a cell phone. The cost was $1 a min. I just bought 20 mins. That all took place about three weeks ago, but rumor had it that US cell phones are going to be working soon, maybe you will get lucky!

customs people were great!

I would post this on the fractional board. Since the Four Seasons openned 2 -3 years ago, the frax are flying to Exuma all the time.

If you go to georgetown airport in exuma...not much to do down there and make sure you get a rental car to move around...long island and narrow.
But if you have a chance, go to Staniel cay, it's awesome, gorgeous waters, rent a little boat and go say hi to the Wild pig family on the little island next to Staniel. Also, bring your snorkling gear and go to the "Thunderbolt grotto" where you will see amazing underwater life ( that's where they shooted some scene from James Bond)...

PM me if you need more, I do tours for pilots in the islands.

i was there last weekend for a few days. customs was a breeze, we had a handler that took care of almost everything on that end. the handler has a phone you can use for free if you want to file a flight plan or whatever. everyone says the four seasons hotel is the place to stay, i didn't get to, but our pax stayed there, and it was real nice. we stayed at the peace and plenty beach inn, it wasn't real great. that was like a mile away from georgetown. but also there is another peace and plenty hotel actually in georgetown which i think would be much better. one cool thing they do have is a boat which goes out to stocking (or stockton, whatever) island a couple times a day. they have some trails and stuff out there and some big rocks and a beach. also the hotel did have a computer which surprised me but it was nice to be able to check email because of course the cell wouldn't work. that's about it. watch out if you are walking along the road there. people drive like maniacs. ecpecially at night.

oh yeah. the handler can bill your company or they take cash. but they don't take credit cards for all the handling the landing fees.
