Hello to all! let me first state that I am very blessed to be working in this field in these conditions.
I was in an accident 20 months ago. I got a weather briefing and they called for FLURRIES along route. I made a poor decision to fly and wound up in a full blown blizzard. In which the engine sufferd from impact ice and I could not get the engine restarted. Thank fully THe Big Guy was looking out for us and we landed in a field.
I now have a job sitting right seat on a CV and SII. My quality of life has never been better!! I have this problem of greener grass. I really want to fly a G whiz machine or Falcon or Cahllenger (not in any particular order).
So now to my multi part question, Will insurance companies and future employers hold this against me forever? ANy chance of working for a fortune 500 CO. And is it who you know or what you know or just a matter of right place right time to fly this type of equipment. Iappreciate any constructive crtiticm or advice.
And last please do make this into a flame bait post what ever that is.

Your accident won't necessarily hold you back from a better job. If you are happy where you are at, stay and enjoy it for a few more years. Get more experience and maybe a type rating.

Flying the bigger stuff doesn't always mean a better job/quality of life. It does, however, usually mean a bigger suitcase.

It isn't about what you fly, it is about living comfortably, enjoying your job and being happy.

As far as getting the Fortune 500 jobs, you are right it is "all of the above"

1. Who you know
2. What you know
3. Right time at the right place

Good luck!

I don't think anyone could have said it better!

As usual FalconCapt speaketh the truth! It's human nature to want to fly bigger/better/faster equipment and if your career goal is to be a big iron Captain then by all means pursue it! However, as Falcon Capt. said if you're happy where you're at stay there and just enjoy life for a while. Enroute to that greener grass you're probably going to have to go thru some pastures with brown grass before you get there so the question becomes - is it worth it?? Heck my pasture doesn't even have any grass in it!! I was once in your position and decided I wanted to fly a big airplane - I made it but along the way I sacraficed alot. I'm now in a Challenger 604 - great airframe and the hands on flying isn't bad but a combination of other things makes this the worst job I have EVER had!! In short, the compensation and quality of life is terrible. The 604 is a great airplane but I'd give it up to go back to my first job flying King Air's.

Hey -- I have an idea - wanna' switch jobs??? :D

I agree too..but sometimes it seems to be

1. Who you know
2. Who you know
3. Who you know

And SOMETIMES it is:

1. Being in the right place at the right time.
2. Being in the right place at the right time.
3. Being in the right place at the right time.

Worked for me, I didn't know a soul at my current job, but I am D@MN glad my passengers were late one September day about 7 years ago...

:D :p :D :p :D :p ;)

you are a rare and lucky man!
good for you!:D :D
crazy business this is......

thank you

Thanks for all your professional input. I really do enjoy the people i work with and for. Fortunately with less than 2000 hours I do have 2 type ratings so I hope this shows that I am "trainable".

I know this sounds very stupid or anal but any time I see big Iron out I go to the FAA web site to see who operates it and where they are based. Today in TTN (trenton NJ) I found State Farm's Falcoln 2000.

I am almost obsessed. I know this sounds dumb but that is me sometimes. On a funny note State Farms tail# is xxxGH I figured out after 2 minutes maybe it stand for "Good Hands" but I thought that wal allstates saying.

ANy way I really enjoy this site.

You sure that wasn't Allstate's 2000, they have 2 of them... and their tail numbers end in GH.

I think State Farm is a "Good Neighbor." Why this is relevent and why I felt like posting it is beyond me.

I thought I read the AllState was shutting down and going (boo) fractional.

Falcon Capt - Embelish us a little more about that September of yor, sounds like a good story.

Know it alls

I have sat back and seen enough of it and now its time for me to jump on board( first post) First of all, State Farm operates Bombardier products unless I have missed something in the last few years I have flown a ###GH airplane. MM, Jump on board anytime here. Folks, lets be accurate if you want to be an expert. Unless I have missed something in the last week, I have not seen a QS, CW, or RT airplane on my ramp or the ramp that Falcon Capt taxis by in the last few days. Its not to say things couldn't change. This is how misinformation changes hand.

SORRY, SORRY, SORRY, SORRY!!!! After putting the crack pipe down I remembered that it might have been MetLife (I think) that was selling out and going to the other side. I hope that I didn't cause a flood of calls to the Allstate chief pilot's office.

Hey, no problemo!! Believe me, he would be a tad upset about those calls. I was just trying to help out.

Metlife?

nope. I think that crack has rotted your brain and is causing you to spout useless dumb information....

but heck, its the internet.

Welcome DB, glad to have you on board here! You'll be amazed at how much "Mis-Information" is on these boards, but hey, sometimes mis-information isn't a bad thing. ;) Looks like you guys are keeping busy down on your end, I know we have been busy by us.

We still gotta get together for that beer and do some catching up!

I would love that beer sometime. We have a lot to catch up on! It's been a long time.
I am glad to see that things have been good to you over the last few years and most importantly things are busy -it could sure go the other way quickly!
If you get a chance, call down and we will partake in carbonated beverages of barley at a local establishment!
