Well hell, it sounds like "Learning to Fly" has been done by many bands. Floyd, the Foo Fighters, and Tom Petty (the version I know). So all three are just completely different songs with the same title?

Lots of good tunes so far. My favorite? ANY Parliment song. Quite often are the CD players of our Lears graced with un-cut funk, straight from the mothership. "You gots to wear your sunglasses to be cool!" You just haven't experienced flight until you're airplane is all funked up. (George Clinton is a required crewmember on my jet.) I also enjoy most any Sinatra tune, most especially the Riddle arranged tunes of the early 60's. Earth, Wind and Fire is excellent aviating music also.

No one has brought up the subject of what tunes run through your head at certain times. For me during takeoff: The opening horn strains from the theme to Superman, (composed by John Williams.) When I break out at minimuns and see the runway environment lit up in front of me, then I sometimes imagine the choir singing Hail the Conquering Hero Cometh, from Judas Maccabaeus (Handel's Aria)

Crank up your speakers! The B-17 doing the flyby (and usually a B-24) shows up every year to the Convention to let these skydivers pay $350 a pop to ride up and dive out the open bomb bay doors. Did I catch a Ned's Atomic Dustbin reference about 20 posts ago? Fantastic! I thought I was the one and only fan left...

As for cheesy pilot movies, yep, Iron Eagle is definitely up there, and, while I'm a little ashamed to admit I know this, the Queen song that he plays while flying is "One Vision" - a good song in it's own regard, IMHO.

Anything off of the first popular Creed album - can't remember the name.

Tree Top Flyer by J.B. is a good one as well - heck, anything off of Banana Wind.

If you're into the folksy type music, Peter Paul and Mary have one called "Early Morning Rain" which is good.

Twisted Tunes and Bob Rivers rock! I used to listen to them each morning on the way to work when I lived in Seattle. A lot of them are even more funny when you are familiar with the local culture. "Beat Up Old Jetliner" is great!

It was 0230, CAVU, and I needed a wake up, I tuned the walkman to "The Zoo" KZEW in Dallas. Just as I was over downtown "Moneys for nothin and you haul checks for free" came on, the BE-58 rolled mid-field at DAL. And I danced off the wing.
Man those were the days.
