The only flying job I've had yet (with aspirations of moving on when the time is right) is instructing, and it's by far the best occupation I've had. In the excitement department, I can't imagine too many jobs where you deal with the kind of stress on a day-to-day basis as trying to teach a primary student the in's and out's of landing a small plane, but it's so rewarding too. As you'll see in other posts on this board, some people just aren't cut out to instruct and refuse to do it, but those that make a conscientious effort to impart not only the knowledge they have on their students, but also focus on improving your own skills and knowledge while you do it, truly help make good CFI's. The pay...it could be better, and it could be worse. Your paycheck is dependant on so many variables (student load, weather, etc.), but it pays the bills. Any honest person on this board will tell you not to get into the industry for the money. In a nutshell, I wouldn't consider instructing a boring job by any means, but that's just my two cent's worth.

I heard a cop say the same thing of his profession.

Ha,

Same for a hooker.

Same for a 7-11 midnight shift worker.

Having similarities doesn't make them comparable...................

Oh, sorry, I wasn't suggesting they were comparable - just found it interesting that they described it the same way.

If work was fun, you'd do it for free.

How many guys would call crew schedule and say "A 4-day to Toronto, Atlanta and DCA? And it's totally unpaid?? Yeah Baby! Sign me up!"

Conclusion: It's not fun.

But it beats a lot of other things to do for a living.

Boring. Yes. So far this year, one forced landing, two engine failures one brake failure, two cases of smoke in the cockpit with one hydraulic failure when the pump caught fire, and a few other little things here and there. It's been a sleeper. I've been thinking about getting an accounting job on the side just to liven it up a bit.

Bug,
Hope you've been staying at the Holiday Inn Express "last night"!!!!!!!!!;)
With that kinda luck I'd be buying a few lotto tix.
