flying around manhattan

Looking for info from anyone who has flown the vfr route down the hudson around manhattan and up the east river. Checked out a NY terminal area chart yesterday for altitudes and frequencies to self announce,but would like more specific info. Thanks.

yES YOU CAN STILL DO THE RIVER RUN.....keep all of your lights on and try and broadcast......make sure youy stay to the right when you fly over the river. I htink that the airspace starts at 1100 over the river so stay low and watch out for Helo's! There was a TFR around lady liberty and ground zero but i do not know if they are still there.....if you call a briefer, they will know. BTW.....that is the best flying in the whole world!

You may also want to familiarize yourself with the local landmarks. I fly VFR occationally out of LGA. A common instruction from tower is "cleared for takeoff, proceed direct the Throgs Neck Bridge at 1500'." The Throggs Neck, nor any of the bridges are identified on the NY Terminal Chart. I have also frequently heard (from southbound on the Hudson) "turn east bound after crossing the Empire State building and proceed Northbound up the East River" (to LGA) a little more obvious.
