Flying again

well, at least for the day.

A friend of mine wanted to get a little instruction in, so I agreed to go up with him for some foggle work and approaches.

It had been almost four months to the day since I had last flown the jet.

All the experiences of my instructing days came right back, and I was amazed at how much I had missed this, this buzzing around over houses, farms, and schools in a single engine Cessna.

I'd have to call it a blessing.

That's one more in the "TT" of my profile.

If you are working, be glad you have that job.

"Buzzing" is the sound of a four cylinder Lycoming compared to two TFE 731's that I used to hear at the back of the Lear.

Sorry about the flying job. Being a former career changer wannabe, I've looked to your move into professional flying with admiration. I missed the boat totally myself. got an interview the first week of Sept '01, but it was cancelled shortly thereafter. You looking for another flying gig?

Well, I was put away wet, but I must have dried off in four months. That's why I was asking about the 12 step program.

As much as I'd like a flying gig, I haven't had the money for the type rating, which would also mean the travel and motel money for simcom in addition to the small grant I might receive from the state.

As an immediate action, I put together a CD of commercial voice over work, for ad agencies between NY and DC to try and scare up some money as the economy recovers.

I have looked into instruction, but no one I know is looking for more instructors. They ARE looking for more students.

Outside of Philly, you might have heard me on a spot for "save500dollarsdotcom", "stimulex" (a viagra-like product), a spot for a guy running for congress in Pittsburgh, or the NBC radio network, but that last one was a long time ago.

I also did some work for Wyeth pharmaceuticals, Aventis Pasteur company, and Ciba-Geigy Chemicals, back when I was working as a flight instructor.

Stephen Hawkings uses the same speech algorithm chip on his laptop as the ATIS recorders at many large airports. These were the first commercially available chips for that purpose. The new generation chips sound far more human. I hope they don't put announcers out of business!!
