I am not at all sure what the PLAN is but the only thing that Management has not tamper with YET is the schedule. Yeah, there has been mention of 4 and 3 and a reserve system buy that is background noise compared to what is coming down the pike.

We already have a reserve system in place. How many times have you been scheduled for FBO duty for "x" number of hours prior to a trip, or better yet, no trips at all?

This my friends, is a reserve system in all it's glory. I feel the need, the need, for K-Y.

May be background noise to you, but those of us in the "bottom 20%" of each aircraft group are looking at it like a train coming down the tracks. Who knows what mystical number they (management) will come up with for the number of days to work. I will however guarantee that those FORCED into the "flex" schedule have seen their last holiday at home with the family. I don't know about the rest of you, but the 7 days off is why I came to work here. Without that, its jusy another 2-bit charter operator.

Sitting standby in the FBO pales in comparison to the coming change in the regular schedule. I mean we are currently 8/7. What do you think of 6/4 or 8/6 plus reserve pilot system. A real no kidding airline style reserve system where the pilot is at home or in THE CRASH PAD because his domicile airport is a tier two hours or more from his home waiting for the call to be at the departure gate in an hour.

Bye, bye, Flight Options. I am working my way out of here.

I believe Scheeringa (spelling?) was the guy who actually ran MetroJet (aka "Ghetto Jet" - red 737-200s out of BWI) for USAirways before it too failed... Let's hope he learned from his mistakes...

Who said it was a "mistake"? I'm beginning to think that is why he is here. Raytheon "mother ship" didn't want travel air, What make you think they want us. They have to make it look good, as if they care and are trying, rather than just shut the door. Otherwise they would have lawsuits out the ass from the owners for breach of contracts. However if they make us look, like a failed business plan, unable to maintain profitability, is a "get out of jail free" card for them. This company will cease to exist within the next 12-24 months. Just according to plan.

It makes no sense that Raytheon would deliberately torpedo a multi-hundreds of million dollar division that was on the verge of showing profits. I refuse to believe in some kind of conspiracy theory when management incompetence on the part of Scheringa and his cronies will suffice just fine as an explanation.

If that indeed is the truth, then why would Raytheon tolerate such blatent sabotage of the company. They too have positions on the board and would have to be aware of what is going on. In addition, with Sheeringa's history of bankrupting or otherwise destroying companies in the past, why would they still allow him to be in charge if they were not indeed intent on the destruction of this division?

Raytheon wants out of the aircraft part entirely. They wish to focus on defense contracts, where the real money is. Problem is, we are part of the aircraft division. Until we are gone, either sold or demolished, they can't find a buyer for the aircraft division. Hence their delema, sell us or disolve. Either way, this company will not exist in 24 months, sooner of MS continues down the path he is.

His good work..

I posted this a whie back.. These are the great things MS did at METRO.
It is a copy of the US AIRWAYS Union letter..

This corporate culture must change. The Central Scheduling
Committee has spent years attempting to tear down the walls between the schedulers and the pilots. We have been trying
to improve the communications and relationships
between the two groups. When we started
this new scheduling system, several committee
members worked in OCC, side by side, with the
schedulers answering questions from the
schedulers as well as the pilots. ALPA and the
Company jointly made the scheduling flow diagrams
you have today, and the same flow chart
was issued to both the pilots and schedulers.
This way, we both were working from the same
information and could hopefully work together
to arrive at a solution. All of this progress
deteriorated over the many months Mr.
Scheeringa ran the department. This is not good
for management or the pilots, and it is a negative
way to conduct business. I hope progress
will resume now that Mr. Scheeringa is no
longer in charge. He was removed as Vice
President, Operations Planning, and reassigned
as Vice President, Customer Service-North.
We think this is a good sign for the scheduling
area, and we wish him well in his new position.
