cool

Well, I did the phone interview. Pretty cool guy, seems like a OK deal. All I can say the pay there beat the heck out of a Regional. Company seems stable though. Oh well we'll see.

What is the pay for 1st year FO? What are the current domiciles? Do you have to live in domicile? What are the complaints causing the exodus? Any other experiences from FLOPS pilots would be of interest as I attempt to navigate my way in this crazy business.

Tier 1 domiciles (where you have to commute from):

ATL BNA BOS BWI CLE DEN DFW EWR IAH IND LAX MCI MCO MIA PHX ORD SFO STL

You must be within 1 hour of your domicile on your day of duty according to policy. So you don't actually have to live there, but you will be on your own to get yourself to your airline flight on time.

Pay is 34k first year, 36k second, 40k the third, 46 the fourth and 52 the fifth. First year captains also make 52, but don't expect an upgrade until you are already making that much. If anyone is telling you quick upgrades, don't believe them. And count on flying a beechjet for many years.

Per diem is about 8k a year for all pay grades. They don't charge you for meals you are caterred (yet) so you actually still pocket a large percentage of that money if you aren't going crazy spending on the road.

Personally I'd rather you didn't come here, or anyone else for that matter. Nothing personal, but if the pool of ready newhires dries up with all the crap they've been pulling, they may get the drift that pilot morale might actually mean something. Doubt it, but it is theoretically possible. In any case, you have to make your own decisions and I won't hold it against you if you come in, it's still better than a lot of aviation jobs out there. If you have any more questions, ask.
