Yeah, and medicine is good for what ails you, but if it is administered by a guy with a little needle with no social skills, you'd rather slap him upside the head than take it. Ahhh, no grudge here.

Again, all are first rate people, but when you get one rotten apple, it really puts out quite a stench.

Yeah, there were more than a couple of them during my FSI tour. In particular the Chief Pilot. The gentleman had some good ideas but no people skills. I remember to this day how I hung outside his glass-walled office for hours at a time, seemingly, trying to get a five-minute audience. Once again, this was more than ten years ago.

I know at least two people who are at the top at the Academy, and they are both first-class people, bar none. For students, though, FSI provides an A-1 learning experience. Just be prepared to work hard. It will be no day at the beach (sorry), although the beach is available, too.

Even though I personally am doing all of my training at a local FBO, I would recommend FlightSafety over PanAm (and probably a few other schools too). I have met grads from both and the ones from FlightSafety seem to be happier with the training they have received.

Good luck in whichever one you choose.
