I'm looking for a good Part 141 flight school in SW Ohio. I have taken a few disco flights but still haven't found a good reasonably priced flight school. I plan to get my PPL and IFR rating at this school before enrolling in one of the big avaition academies. I don't have a lot of money and I was wondering if it's possible to take out a loan for flight training.

I am currently working as a gate agent at the airport, but I'm tired of sitting and I want to start flying.

Franklin Academy at Lunken seems to be the best these days. I just had a buddy finish his PPL-CFII there and he seemed pretty happy. Let me know if there are any aiports closer to you than Lunken.

Where in SW Ohio do you live? I'm from Georgetown in Brown County and I take my training at Coleman Aviation in Maysville KY. IMO it's the best value around. You also have Eastern Cincinnati Aviation in Batavia at the Clermont County Airport and several in Cincy to choose from.

List of FBOs

I'd say to contact each of these guys. I have no first hand knowledge of any of them.

Jay,

I got my private from Aviation Sales at the Dayton Intl Airport a long time ago (1987). They say they are Part 121 also.
I grew up in "the Heights!" Here's a link for you:

Another idea....... Wright Patterson AFB has a pretty good flying club. I was thinking of renewing my MEI last year and called over to the club to get some info. They told me that all I needed to do to qualify to fly over there was to join the Civil Air Patrol. Basically, you pay $25 bucks to join and become a member. Now you are qualified to use the Aero Club. From what I could tell, it sounded like a really good outfit. Another link:

Hope this helps!
