Try Old Bridge in NJ.... two great flight schools but what you save in training costs you will probably exceed with commuting. The two schools are MJ Air and Northeast Aviation II. Both very good but the latter has a sale on rentals right now, all aircraft $65/hour. The instructors are totally awesome at both schools.

I've trained at both TEB and CDW so I'll give you my quick insights. I've been flying with Mac Dan at CDW for almost three years. Great staff and instructors in my opinion. I looked at Caldwell Flight Academy, but when I walked in they didn't seem interested in taking time away from doing whatever else they were doing, which I think was talking behind the counter and watching TV, to answer the questions I had. I also know a few people who did their PPL there that weren't pleased with the experience and did their later flying with Mac Dan.

I started my instrument rating at TEB with Air Fleet because I live about two miles from the airport and thought it would be a good experience persuing the IR out of a busier field. But between the time spent waiting for departure clearance, instructor rates increasing to almost $50/hour as well as large rental rate increases, and the landing fee increasing to $15, I moved my training back to CDW. Other than that I thought Air Fleet was a pretty good operation. I also hear that Millionaire is pretty decent as well. But if you do fly out of TEB expect the cost to complete the PPL to be higher, even relative to NY area standards.

As you're attending Baruch, you're probably better off going with Linden, Caldwell, or even Westchester.
