What is the going rate (if there is one) for doing flight instruction in light jets? In addition, what is the going rate for doing supervised initial operating experience for a single pilot operator in a light jet?

I'm curious if others charge by the hour or do a day rate, like contract pilots.

I only have one data point for you, but there used to be a guy around here that did instruction in a CJ1. He charged based on a day rate, or in some cases, a half day rate. Dunno what he was charging, though.

I got typed in the citation at a place in san diego. It was a package deal, but if you wanted extra time it was $1000/hr for the plane +$500/day for the instructor

That helps, thanks.

Anyone else?

800 a day? That's a bit more than I expected.

I know contract pilots in this neighborhood are getting 450 to 500 a day. So, an extra 300 for babysitting?

Thats the number I remember them saying when we were looking at new airplanes and checking training costs. Turns out that our insurance didn't require any IOE for me so we never used them.

Give them a call, I'm sure they will give you a quote. I may be way off but I don't think so. 300 extra for babysitting is what it would take to get me to do it!!!!! I love to fly....hate to instruct. Did enough of that the first time around!! :0

Thanks for the lead...I'll check it out!
