Thought that was you, Congrats on the new run I'll keep you posted about the Up and coming. When are you headin east? My B-day is on the 21st, planning on a big party of some sort, want me to come get you?
My best run out of FXE when I was there was 2000 show C210 FXE-ORL-FXE, switch to a Baron. Then FXE-TPA-ORL-FXE-OPF-ORL-OPF-FXE. In the summer, I would see the sun set and rise in one duty day! No more than 7.99999 hours of flying. It payed good.
Man, I spent 22 months at FXE and it was the best experience I could ask for. That job makes you tough as nails and many other companies love to hire their pilots.
I work for Mid-Atlantic now flying nearly perfect Caravans and of their last 9 hires, 5 were FXE pilots. BTW, we recent got hit by the regionals and lost a few pilots (that turbine time looks mighty good on a resume) so we are hiring for Pasco, WA, Mobile, Lansing, Abeline and I think another floater.
My sim check ride is tomorrow, I get in the plane monday, my 8410 ride is thursday i think. I will be on run 10 days after that
HAPPY B-DAY
Call me back
hey man if there is anyway you can make it down this weekend for my B-day, there is a Mardi Gras going on in Covington!!! We gots lots to celebrate, I also go the thing I did this week!!
I did the FLX (flight express) thing for 18 months. I can say a lot of good and bad about the company.
The good is they will hire most anyone who can pass the training. They hired me with only 1200 total and 15 hrs of multi. It was great that they gave me a chance to prove myself.
The experience you get is like none other. Flying single pilot IFR at night in thunder storms with just a VOR while in icing conditions will make you tough as nails. I really honed my IFR skills while I was there.
The bad part is you get the feeling that management could care less about you. Good luck ever getting time off or getting a vacation when you request it. You maybe making $120 one day and then lose your run for no reason and be making $75 with out any warning. That can suck if you get accustom to making the $120.
I don't know if things have changed, but I would say the maintenance was sub-par at best. I remember writing up items more than 5 times in one month. They will go the cheapest route to fix something. I've had radio and electrical failures just because of old worn out parts that were switched out from other airplanes.
Overall for the most part it was a great time building experience for me and I would do it again if I was just starting out. I guess I was lucky when I was there. I was only in the 210 for 9 months before I upgraded to the Baron. I guess things have changed since I was there in 2001-2002.
