Very interested in any comments anyone can share about Flight Express.
Pay? quality of maintenence? How often are you jumping around on different runs? Benefits? Etc. Etc.

Thanks in advance!

Im at Flight express and really love it. The maintence is pretty good, usually only have an airplane try to kill me about twice a week, but its always "fixed" the next day.

Depending on the base you get you might have a stready run right out of ground school other wise you could be a rotation guy at a specific base until something opens up and you bid by seniority. A rotation guy only switches runs among his base, not like other companies where you are sent all over the country and on the road for long times. (it does happen on rare occasions though)

All the pilots i work with and have met at other bases have been great, we really seem to have a good group of people. Besides Flying Single Engine Night IMC in winter, at least where I'm based ought to teach you a few things.

Seriously about the maintence, it really is good, these planes are high time and used constantly, but there is nothing shady about this company

--Cheers

As far as pay, its better than some regionals!! depending on the run you get it can get as high as mid 30's. Base salary is just under 20. For flying a 210 thats not too bad. Medical and such after 90 days

I have been at Flight Express for almost 2 years and totally recommend it. We are doing alot of hiring (about 8 a month recently). Pay is good (20,000-37,000) it all depends on how long your run is. Good Mx, management

Usually you start somewhere in the midwest (St Louis, Cinn, KC)
and bid on better runs as they open. Upgrade to the baron is about 10-15 years right now but things are picking up.

I just finished training yesterday and I'm based in Cincy, cant wait to get started. They seem to be a good company so far.

Thank everyone for the info.
Sounds like a good place to work.

Do you know what bases fly at night?

Whats your defination of Night? Up here in Cincy all but one of the runs finishes up at night, but except on friday all are done by 10, 1130 on friday. Down in tampa there are some Longer duty ddays that start mid afernoon and finish up around 1-2 am, but if you are comparing things here to say Airnet, which starts the day around 9 pm and can fly until Sunup, we have a different structure. Most (Not all) of our stuff leaves during daylight hours and flies into the evening. there is also a bit of predawn stuff that goes into the afternoon. Something for everyone i guess. Get a copy of a bid packet when you interview

hey aerosurfer

Aerosurfer. Good Picture. You flight express boys dont know what night is. Try a 11pm to 10am run. Now thats night. By the way congrats on the interview

YO YO YO G-Net

Thought that was you, Congrats on the new run I'll keep you posted about the Up and coming. When are you headin east? My B-day is on the 21st, planning on a big party of some sort, want me to come get you?

Avionics...

The leftover Cessna junk if it still works :D

My best run out of FXE when I was there was 2000 show C210 FXE-ORL-FXE, switch to a Baron. Then FXE-TPA-ORL-FXE-OPF-ORL-OPF-FXE. In the summer, I would see the sun set and rise in one duty day! No more than 7.99999 hours of flying. It payed good.

FXE is Great Experience

Man, I spent 22 months at FXE and it was the best experience I could ask for. That job makes you tough as nails and many other companies love to hire their pilots.

I work for Mid-Atlantic now flying nearly perfect Caravans and of their last 9 hires, 5 were FXE pilots. BTW, we recent got hit by the regionals and lost a few pilots (that turbine time looks mighty good on a resume) so we are hiring for Pasco, WA, Mobile, Lansing, Abeline and I think another floater.
