probably the best part of our job...just curious where you all have gone and how much you liked it...trying to put a trip together this summer

That's an easy one! Dayton, Ohio is a great destination. Think AIR FORCE MUSEUM! Admission is free and you can spend days there. They also have an excellent gift shop/bookstore.

Other neat things about Dayton
  • No passport required
  • people there are friendly
  • within a couple hours flight from nearly anywhere in the eastern US
  • economical Midwestern prices
  • home of Huber Heights, the worlds largest all brick housing developement
Sure, you can go snorkling in Maui, or birding in Costa Rica, but things are Greatin Dayton!

Just pick a place you want to go and go. You more than likely won't regret it. Keep in mind, non-revving in the summer can be a total beyotch as far as loads. Don't know who you work for, but make sure to keep an eye on loads and be very flexible with your travel date. Never happened to me, but other guys I know have had things like this happpen. Trying to get to London, full, get bumped. Next day not looking good either. But hey, next gate down has a flight to AMS, BRU, MUC (wherever) wide open. Go get on it, make it to AMS, BRU, MUC (wherever). Go buy a cheap ticket on a Euro LCC to get to London.

So far I've been to Ireland, Spain, and New Zealand. All were cool. Plan on seeing more soon.

dang thanks..what about hotels??theyre pretty pricey, even with perx

there are all levels of hotels you can stay at. get yourself a lonely planet book and/or go to borders and browse all their other travel books with a note pad and a cup of coffee. they will list fancy hotels all the way to pensions and hostels.

dont be afraid of hostels, in the EU they are fairly nice and many of them also offer private rooms in addition to the bunk rooms. pensions are also a really good inexpensive alternative to regular hotels.

also you can check out the message forums on the lonely planet website. lots of helpful people from around the world that will give you info and advice on whatever city they are from.

It can really be hit or miss. Hotesl in Europe during the summer can be expensive. I've never used perx, I came across a site called aerlingushotels.com that had some ok deals. One thing to consider is hostels. I'm not talking about the college dorm/crash pad type. Go to hostels.com and look for what is called a "private ensuite". It means you will get your own bathroom and it's usually two single beds or one twin bed. The ones I used in Spain were good and very clean. Not much on amenities, but a decent and relatively cheap place to crash between sightseeing and drunken binges enjoying the local night (and into morning) life.
