College educated pilots think they are so smart. These college boys think they can out negotiate management all the time, try, and fail or worse sell out parts of the group to help minorities of the group.

High School educated flight attendants and A and P trained mechanics tell management hows its going to go and when management doesn't respond, FA's and mechanics take action.

FA's and mechanics are respected and more importantly feared by management while pilots are played.

I thought this post was going to be about how all flt atts ave giant guts and are in their 90's. They always remind me of the mom that led the fratellis gang in the movie the goonies.

It is because it is easier for "non-pilots" to get a job making comparable wages. Too many pilots feel they are "lucky to have a job".

Yes...much easier for F/A s and mechanics to go out and get another job at something close to their current wages. Not so for pilots. Pilots have a lot more to loose. That is the reason.

No risk no gain. FA's and mechanics make more than FO's as all these scared Captains sell out.

American FA's simulating strikes is a great idea. Too bad ALPA doesn't have the guts to even simulate something they will never do.

Not necessarily. i.e., if an F/A or a mech has 20+years with X Airlines, relatively, they would have just as much to lose. Many F/A and mech unions have a seniority system too and they have the same issues of having to start out at the bottom if they go somewhere else.

also, flight attendants and mechs don't have SJS.

No matter if the mechanic has 1 yrf or 20 years. If there is a strike or worse, his airline goes under, he can find a job relatively quick.

A flight attendant can do the same. and both can do it for close to a liveable wage.

A college educated Pilot can find a job pretty quickly...but there is a HUGE difference in pay between that of a 757 CAPT and a high school ROTC teacher
