Upon being hired as an FA, is there a requirement for basic medical skills, such as CPR and the like? Also, are FA's required to know how to use defib paddles?

I dont know for sure but I think they train you in everything you need to know.

But a CPR certification can't hurt.

To be a corporate flight attendant you generally have to have gone through reputable training, such as FACTS, FlightSafety, or Aleton.

In the airline world, the airlines will train you in their own medical procedures. There is no need to get your own CPR training or anything.

I guess I misworded the original...

I guess a better question would be, "Could I assume any given flight attendant would know how to do basic techniques to save a potentially dying passenger's life?" I'm a cargo guy and was just wondering.

Yes, a flight attendant has basic first aid training.
