The reason why I feel it will be slowing down, is due to the big hiring spurt we had a year and a half ago. We hired in a lot of guys/gals is a very short time. You are seeing a lot of upgrades due to the company getting the pilot ratios up. It is quite likely that folks coming in this year will be looking at a 3 to 4 year upgrade. I am no Nostradamus (sp?), and it is only my opinion. I personally want to see everyone upgrading within 2 years.
I know there are guys/gals leaving on the lower end of the seniority list, but right now, they are not leaving toward the higher end of the list. For whatever it is worth, I have heard that for the next 4 or 5 years, we are adding a net of 15 aircraft a year, which I believe is about 80 pilots a year. With a 3 CPT to 2 FO ratio, you can do the math. This is, however, aviation and it can and will all change tomorrow.
From what I hear, the ones that are leaving that just started don't really want to work, nor do they like the fractional side of aviation. So, you can draw your own conclusions from what you see and hear.
I can say, that if you are looking to come here, it is a great company and we have great people here as well. I am sure the same can be said for NJA and Citation Shares. Like anything else in life, you have to make the best decision for yourself and be able to look at yourself in the mirror and say I made the best decision. Besides, I have never heard of a death sentence being handed out for not liking a job and moving on.
