Flex food for thought

  • We now airline with 4 and 5 hour layovers at airline hubs!!!
  • We stay at (third rate) hotels that cost anywhere from 20 to 50% MORE that FBO rates!!!
  • We get breakfast and lunch in paper bags that get wet from refrigeration!!!
  • They doubled our insurance premium this year!!!

Now that's one happy customer. Ask the guys at jetboo what they get for breakfast, lunch, and dinner; and for that matter ask the LUV gang.

I definitely agree with your insurance comment. That was a rip-off but I didn't see too many people standing up and complaining. I did.

Hopefully the majority will decide to let their cards voice their complaint. It seems to me that taking an active stand is the best approach. That insurance rip-off was surely message enough for those who are reading the writing on the wall. It seems clear that the pilots can expect more of the same if they don't stand up for themselves.
Good Luck!

Fleecem Jet

The problem with Flex is Mgmt.. They change their feeble mind every two seconds because the last solution they came up with didnt work!!

The pilots have two choices myway.. or the hiway and thats just the way mgmt likes it.

5 yr ex business jet solutions pilot... yeah I left with sr number 17 and it STILL hasent changed after all these years........ the pilot takes it in the azz.

To add to the fire, a very high time F/O was fired during his failed captain evaluation this year. I'm sure there may have been more to the story than just that but, you never know. In my opinion, the D.O. at Flex is a complete moron that only brings failed airline attitude to the company.

Art,
I think your comment about the DO is wrong, I worked at Flex for 5 years and he was and I believe still is (I talk to a lot of guys that are still there) doing a good job. Yes there is still a lot to do to improve QOL at Flex (since I'm not there anymore I'll stay out of the Union talk).

Bombjet45,
I eat just fine at SWA, the "not being able to eat at SWA" is BS. I have a known schedule so I can plan my meals around the day. we get $2.15hr per diem, a very good discount on food at the hotel, a little discount on airport food. I eat better and keep more of my per diem at SWA.

And no Mac and Cheese :)

I have always said that I enjoyed Flex and that I will always be grateful for having had the opportunity to work there. But, when it comes to Pay, Retirement, Schedule, Work Load, Work Rules, QOL. there is no comparison in my book.

oops, double posted.

Flex-O,

What are you talking about? 4 or 5 hour layovers. I have yet to have anything like that. Although, if it's part of my duty then that's what I do. Which would you rather do? Bust your ass for a 14 hour day flying the east coast shuffle or just fly some and sit some? Either way it all pays the same.

3rd rate hotels? Yeah we stay at a dump once in a while, but more often we stay at an overkill hotel. I'd gladly stay at something cheaper if I could get the savings directly on my pay check. One thing you have right is we don't always get the FBO rate on the hotels. That needs work.

Food Complaints? Quit-Yer-Bitchin'. I'm sure you could push back a little from the table.

Health Insurance? Yeah the price went up. (At least my deductible did, but not my pay check deduction). Would I like it to be cheaper or free? Of course. How would that square with the rest of the employees? Pilots get "free" health care and all other employees pay. That's Bombardier USA not just Flex.

Stop whining about food, airlining, hotels, your hang-nails and other trivial B.S. Stick to Pay, duty days (not duty hours), and crew bases. That's the important stuff.

By the way, IBT.....I still hear crickets!
