Just curious on how you guys got your first corporate type rating.

Did you fly right seat for a while at the company? Buy your own(eep!) Or were you hired to the Left seat/ Co Captain?

I'm thinking about going in one day faaar down the road...

Thanks guys

I flew right seat for a while at a Charter company and when it was time to upgrade they footed the bill... Lear 35

After the first one, the rest are just gravy...

Same as Falcon Capt, only it was a Lear 24.

Except the rest of mine are nonexistant....:(

I was hired into a Westwind with no jet time, but 500 hrs King Air time. I flew right seat for 6 months, then got typed. The type was much easier for me than others in the class, b/c I had around 130 hours in the aircraft, as opposed to others who had never even seen the inside of a Westwind.

I was a prostitue for a Regional for two years in the right seat and one in the left. 1000-Hour CFI wiz kid when I got hired at the airline. I just happened to find someone who flew ERJs in the Corporate side of life... Thank GAWD.

Sold my body for sex. Traded my first born. Don't ask me where my left arm is. You get the point. It doesn't come easy.

So that's why you're driving a Bentley:p .

First type? I sat right seat in a Lear for a 135 company, moved to the left seat of a King Air, after that they sent me to back to school and got me a Lear type.

When I got hired to fly the Dornier, they sent me to school for PIC. I got my Type/ATP at the same time. I was flying freight before this job and a friend of mine got hired here before me and was asked for a couple recommendations. He gave them my name and another guy that flew freight with us.

Hired as copilot on CE500 with less than an hour of jet experience (my lucky break). Year three was typed when they bought a new aircraft.

Flew contract for 6 months and got recommended to one of our airplane owners for a type. Flew contract with 0 jet time but the right recommendation. :)

Hired at a management company (that thankfully does very very little 135 work) with 550TT to fly a BE-20. Things went my way and in 2 months I was trained on the DA-10. Went to school just over a year later with about 160hrs in type and 900TT and earned my PIC type. I too had a very easy time at school since I had some time in the airplane before I went. Sounds wierd, but I really enjoy(ed) school...I have a lot of fun when I'm there
