Don't eat bananas. I don't know why, but of all foods, they are the worst coming back up.

What kind of airplane do they use? I'd be a bit leary of the T-34's after the recent crashes due to wing spar failures.

Anything light. Bagels work best for me.

I'm not familiar with those. Just be sure the IP is well trained in acro.

The Extra is standard gear monoplane designed for aerobatics. The most popular model for aerobatic training is the Extra 300L, 300 for the HP, and L for low wing (compared to the center mounted wing for earlier models) for enhanced visibility during taxi and landing.

It can compete well all the way upto the Unlimited category, has a 10G loading limit, a roll rate about 360 deg a second, along with a symmetric airfoil.

Fantastic airplane, and I wish I had the money to own one.

Try about 15 Dos Equis and three burritos the night before. That way, you will get your puking out of the way while you're driving to the airport! :D TC

Oh forgot to mention keep the bag handy during the landing most people puke during the landing for some reason.

"What the h*ll are you puking for that was a soft landing for a Pitts?"

I've found macaroni and beef to be the most entertaining...almost festive.

Actually, Bananas aren't bad. They taste the same coming up as they did going down.

I recommend just eat light. Avoid Coffee and Orange Juice - its hard on the stomach. Stick with toast, bagels, water, etc. and bring some water with you in the plane if able.

Good Luck,
AArider

[Too] much information! :D
Well, that's what the Army gave us to eat before we experienced CS gas for the first time. (It was always the tough-guys who hurled the most. Weenies like me held most of it in okay...)

True. Very true. However I was speaking more of a recollection of consistancy and texture of said fruit.

Of course, it may have something to do with the amount and varying types of alcohol consumed the prior night in the O club

When a friend introduced me to aerobatics in his Super Decathlon I felt fine, having a great time, until we entered the pattern to land. I didn't puke, but the closer the ground came the worse I felt. Why is this? Anyone know?

88_Malibu,

Disregard all of the previous posts, they're all lying.

Your best bet is to go out the night before and have some spicy Mexican food washed down with a few Coronas. Then, eat some chili-cheese dogs before heading out to the airport the day of your event.

Best of luck. Let me know how it turns out.

Ya, we've been. They use Extra 300L's and ya you might get a little nauseous, but they’ll give you a break if you get a little light headed.

I was happy I went, simply nice to know that even though I have only done very limited acro, that no matter what kind of maneuver they put the airplane into; it's still an airplane and recovers that way.

Sure the first couple of inverted spins are a little disorientating, but any professional pilot shouldn't have much of a problem recovering.

In the end you'll be begging for more knife-edge spinups or outside loops, that Extra is one hell of an airplane.

All the IP's are recently retired F-16 Colonels from Luke. Even Midas (4000 hour F-16 guy) is an IP there!

Once you experience the Extra 300L, and enjoy it, go try and find yourself a ride in the Zivco Edge 540T. That aircraft makes the Extra look like a Super Cub!!
