What are the junior bases for new hires in the -200 and -400? Any idea where the November and December hew hires get based? Also, how is senioirity given if hired?
Any insights on quicker upgrades in the future? Any new rumors, growth, etc?

Just looking for some general info....thanks

What are the junior bases for new hires in the -200 and -400?

-200 PDX
-400 SEA (for now; could change after displacements start)

Any idea where the November and December hew hires get based?

Nov. and Dec. classes not posted on-line yet; maybe someone who's been through training scheduling recently will have an idea. In any event, new-hire base assignment are given after classes start, though with DEN closing, and SEA 200 closing/400 expanding, there's really no mystery once you know your a/c assignment.

Also, how is senioirity given if hired?

Oldest is most senior.

Any insights on quicker upgrades in the future? Any new rumors, growth, etc?

Upgrade will probably come down to 4-5 years next year when the first post-9/11 new hires start upgrading. But it might start creeping back up as there is no actual airframe growth to speak of in the fleet plan.

Rumors of E-jets at BFI, with corresponding classes on the board in training scheduling, but I'd be surprised if this amounts to anything, though anything's possible. AAG covets the E190s. Could happen, though no rates have been established yet.

The conventional wisdom is that all the hiring right now is to create a training bubble, which will eventually be used to back-fill for attrition. Maybe there's more to it.

Just looking for some general info....thanks

Great, thanks for your insights!
The e-jet thing sure sounds good. Do you see that as a QX or AS plane? If a new type comes on board (like when Q400 came), do they fill it with new hires or give current pilots to take seats in a new plane without taking the pay hit?

Also, how long do you think a Q400 SEA newhire will sit reserve? Any good crashpads around? Prices?
Does anybody use the boardroom as a reserve/crashpad?

Thanks.

Any good crashpads around?
Thanks.

You Rang?

I think QX is as good a commuter airline as any, but why go there if upgrade is sometime between having dark hair, grey hair, or no hair?

If time building is what you want, then try Mesa for the quickest commuter time possible. No one at the majors will think less of you, and what guys at other feeders think doesn't matter.

Not trying to light a fire. I try to avoid flying on RJs and believe the general public is fed up with the 'bait and switch' as well.

No one will think any less of you? Are you kidding? In any case I think its been quite some time since this forum has blasted on the Mesa windbreaker. Come on lets hear it...and if anyone has a picture please post that too.

I'm guessing the reserve time in SEA will not be long assuming the supply line of Q400 doesn't slow down. 1 new plane is probably about 10 lines. The base only has one airplane now and around 12 FOs I think.

Phone rings with (503) number...
I think....this will be interesting....

Me: (in raspy Ferris Bueller staying home voice) Hello

Crew Scheduling: Is this (my name)?

Me: uhhhh,.....yes...

Crew Sched: We have a few premium pay trips for you Captain!!

Me: I called in sick today, and yesterday. I'm sick.

Crew Sched: Well we're sorry to hear that. We have a few premium pay trips and we'd like you to help us out. One trip shows @ 1745 show with an overnight in......

Me: Is Ashton Kutcher standing there with you? Am I being punked?

Crew Sched: Excuse me? So are you refusing to fly?

click

Yeah, I'd say they are short.

Yeah, they're sorry you're sick...but not sorry for you.

Are newhires paired up with a CA in sim or 2 newhires swapping seats? Are there also 18 newhires per class in Nov/Dec planned?

It all depends on the makeup of the class. Pairings are usually a CA with an FO, unless the numbers don't match. For example, a class that just started had 3 CA upgrades and 5 newhire FOs for the -200. So 2 FO's, probably the most junior in the class, will get paired together for the sim.

I see, do the company employees see any kind of information pertaiining to the November and December class with how many for what aircraft, etc?
