Nothing like seeing the jobs you applied for being re-advertised back on the Internet. I'm not even going to bother sending another resume.

No type = no chance

Polar Air is still looking for pilots with heavy time.

The Air Group is still looking for pilots.

A few other minor companies as well. I've sent resumes to these companies and others, and they still advertise. Obviously they aren’t desperate or they would pay to train a pilot.

Yup.

I applied to Polar three seperate times. I never heard any response.

On the other hand, I made a paper application to Cathay and received a postcard (with a nice picture of a -400). Also I made an online application to UPS and received an automatic email.

These things are very cheap but convey a sense of professional courtesy--something sorely lacking in this industry.

(P.S., please don't get me started on how CX treats their flight crews and the unjustly fired 49. I'm just trying to make a point about how cheap a postcard is to say, Thanks we received your application.)

Ya I hear you, I've applied to Ameriflight about 8 months ago. They constantly have up openings on their website even though they have hundreds of resumes, including mine. I emailed them for the status on my resume after six months and they just told me to keep waiting. If they have this many applicants why are posting openings on their website?? What's the deal??

I hear AirNet Express is hiring pilots - it operates Barons and Lear 35s throughout the country. Flying a Lear 35 wouldn't be such a bad gig vs. sitting on your arse...

CCdisco - have you considered offering to pay for type (for Air Group)? Hey, get your type in an Excel and then parlay it into something else if you like.... I am surprised your F-15 time didn't impress them...

No type = no chance

Trust me...Even if you have a type, it doesn't mean diddley-squat if you're not current in the airplane. Most operators that require the type also want to see at least 500hrs in type for FOs and 500 hrs PIC in type for Captains... So don't go out and buy a type unless you know you'd get the job. JMHO!

Feel Your Pain

Feel your pain brother. Approaching one year anniversary of furlough. Rejection is something that is very difficult to stomach day after day. This is a very cyclical industry and right now we are just searching for the bottom. Even with my type and time in type, I have no luck. Not too many folks out there looking for 757/767 pilots. Wishing you well.

Need a job?

If you need the job there are a lot of sim instructor positions for ex-fighter guys. It won't keep you current, but it will pay some bills in the interim. I found the jobs on Monster.com and on Boeing.com, also Edwards and some DOD contractors need fighter test pilots. If you need more info PM me.

I now work for FlightSafety teaching KC-135 sims in Oklahoma, it isn't my dream job, but it keeps the savings in the positive column. Plus I can keep up my instrument cross check. I am working on my CFI at the local community college. After I finish I can get paid (peanuts) to teach in their cessnas and pipers to stay current.
