I have heard that there will be two classes in April.. One early on in April and was just wondering how much notice do they usaully give?

Also, it seems as though everyone (FedEx guys) has stopped posting info.. Just Curious??

How many more internals do they have before they start to draw from the pool?

The silence is killing me..

Peace

That's because we don't know the answer. I have not been back to Memphis in a while either. I think most of us are tired or reading hopeful posts only to see them be false. Hang in there.

Personally I think the silence is because there's nothing going on. The company isn't growing. There are no new FIRM aircraft announcements, just the same old fleet plan. The manning model is the same as it was before and they've found ways to do more with less...can anyone say ALTITUDE system (aka the sodomizer). Contract negotiations are around the corner with both sides' initial proposals already being presented. Our accident rate is high and there's lots of grumbling during hub turns. Personally the first day I show in MEM for my week of hub turns I'm wishing it was my last...but it's a job and that is all it's supposed to be.

As far as hiring is concerned...

Given a slow, at best, economic recovery I'm personally glad they're taking their good old time at bringing new bodies on the property. I know that's not what you want to hear, but as someone that wants this place to be here in 22 years, 7 months and 10 days (but who's counting) management's slow pace is completely welcome.

Frustrating for you, yes...it was for me too a few years ago, but the tiny amount of career security it provides is worth it in the long run.

cost cutting PROFITS

Very positive article on profit increase due to some cost cutting measures. Might not mean much in the short term but the long term benefits will be great.

I have not been through any union contract negotiations before but I think both sides are taking a "wait and see" approach before we start bringing any major numbers on property.

Hang in there, it will definately be worth it in the long run:p

That soon?

was just wondering how much notice do they usaully give?

I got called on Thursday and was asked if I could be in class on Monday. Just assumed I was hired because I hadn't heard anything until that phone call. Needless to say I was in class on Monday morning!

FDX...More Mail.....More jobs?

Okay, since nobody responded to my thread, I'll put it here! Looks like more mail...that has to be good.

On March 16, 2004, FedEx Express entered into a fourth addendum to its transportation agreement with the U.S. Postal Service, allowing FedEx Express to continue carrying incremental pounds of mail through November 30, 2004 at higher committed volumes than required under the original agreement.
