Holy cow...a bid without even a TICKLE of rumor first...

Am I the only one blindsided by the 05-02 bid?

It is just for the 2 SFS F/O slots and a few 727 F/O slots that went unfilled. They did the same thing after the big postal bid in 2001. No Capt. Vacancies in the bid, so there will not be very much movement, if any at all.

Sounds good, but I'm not sure if I want to go to Subic... But it looks like we'll be hiring for awhile...

Future Bids / Hiring
For the fiscal year ending May 31, 2005, Flight Operations will have hired
358 new pilots. Hiring of crews is expected to continue into FY06 as the
company continues to add wide-body lift. The next bid is anticipated in
the July/August time frame.

Take Care...

for those wondering...

2 Subic 300 F/O

32 Mem 727 F/O

50 Mem 727 F/O

Not much upward movement if you already hold a right seat but if you want off the panel it looks like you may have your shot very soon...

More A/C arriving

Looks like a lot of widebodies are arriving with only a.....

Loss of 2 727's and 8 DC10's.

and a

Gain of 11 Airbus, 9 MD10's and 7 MD11's.....

overall gain of 17 aircraft for the next fiscal year (granted we're losing more 3-pilot to 2-pilot planes....)

My ACP was correct saying expect @ 15 planes arriving every year for the next few years.....

Nope bro. They caught me on this one also. This smells like the classic "clean up bid". I'm hearing crazy stuff about the late summer/early fall bid, but I won't elaborate until I hear the same rumor TWICE.

no really...... Go Ahead...Elaborate!

2000 pilots in the next 4 years.

At least one (possibly two) new foreign bases.

But (and here's my pessimism kicking in) will they all be on our seniority list?

I think I might start learning Chinese. ;)

no surprise

I thought the bid would happen in May simply based on the fact that the last guys to enter 727 FO training from the last bid do so in mid June. The widebodies train into the fall.

For those of us with access, look at the training letter in VIPS. As long as they are short in a seat, expect a bid a month or two before the last guys go to training. We are still short in the right seat of the 727 and it isn't getting any better with alot of guys going to widebody right seats.

Just my .02

From a well-placed source:

Expect 4 bids a year for the next few years. One big bid every 6 months followed by a "clean-up" bid in three months. Net result is one bid every 3 months.

The fall "big" bid should include about 90 widebody CA vacancies.

Still rumor at this point, but rumor from a good source.

(Bjornstad for those who know).
