3 threads on this topic - - one says a DC-10 caught fire, one says an MD-10 caught a FILE??? maybe that would explain it.... and the third says it was a hard landing... oh, well, perhaps we shouldn't be so hard on the media for inaccuracy.

The previous links show what it looked like after - - this one shows DURING the fire, and crewmembers/jumpseaters exiting the Captain's window using a "rope."

That was incredible.

what a sight....

reminds me of an American DC-10 about 10 years ago at DFW. Their right main collapsed as well on landing, but luckily there was no fire so only minor injuries to some pax on that flight. Those poor people were just returning from HNL... can you imagine going from Paradise to jumping down slides to get off the A/C.

I wonder if that is the reason why my wifes Christmas present has not been delivered by Fed Ex yet?

Till there is an official investigation, there is no reason to take the loss of freight out on the FedEx rank and file
