We had a fedex jumpseater on our flight the other day give us a card saying your jumpseat was now open to us. We just had to call a number and list no earlier than 48 hours in advance. The card also had a web address but it doesn't work. Anyone know what the deal is with that?

Thanks

Jumpseat number at fedex is 901-224-5420. We are now part of CASS and it applies to AA, A Eagle, Continental, United, and I believe SW now. The kicker is having your photo in the CASS database. Still working on the passport option of CASS but right now, that doesn't apply.

I don't beleive so. The whole cass deal is a big process which allows them to electronically verify your employment in real-time. Your still allowed to jumpseat in the back but you can't ride the actual cockpit jumpseat.

How does one list (or whatever has to happen) for the jumpseat in the back? Is there certain availability per A/C? I'm completely new to the J/S and Fedex thing, thanks for the info.

Sadly you have to be a CASS airline to sit in either area. And your airline must have your picture in CASS (not all do). Still its a start and I am glad to see them open it up again. Below was from the Fedex release about jumpseating that came out about a week ago.

1. FedEx Express has two types of seating in its jumpseat system. One is the actual jumpseats located in the cockpit area (cockpit jumpseat). The second is the cabin seating area on most of the wide-body aircraft (cabin jumpseat). CASS participation is a requirement to occupy a seat in either area at FedEx Express. Also, FedEx requires CASS to provide both the picture and passport number of the OJS.
