I have forgotten if the FEX written expires after 2 years or does it stay good as long as you are flying 135/121 current?

I took the FEX written back in 01 so it is out as of 03 if there is no little loophole like with the ATP.

PS. What are the odds of someone with no 121 or military time getting on at FedEx?

FEX extension

Mark:

For some reason FedEx does not accept the extension on the FE written for folks continuously employed by a 121 carrier. This has been mentioned several times by myself and other people on this board, and jibes with what they told us in new hire training as well. I don't know why they don't except it, I just know that in order to start training you have to have a current FE written (there was an exception for a military guy who was depolyed and couldn't renew, but that extension was given to him by the FAA with a new certificate I think) and a current class I medical.

Your chances of getting hired with 135 or corporate time are just as good as those with 121 or military, we have just about every background covered here. Your best chances are with several recommendations from current FedEx pilots who are willing to walk your resume into the chief pilot's office. I would say that the percentages favor military, but not by that much.

Good luck.

What are the chances of a civilian with no inside reccomendations from a Fedex pilot getting on with that kind of hiring preditions forcasted. I have already filled out the online app, just want to know if it was worth it.

They love Brasilia drivers. Seriously, you pretty much need a recommendation to get an interview.

Thanks FalconJet.

I guess I will just take it again. Nice to know that FedEx pulls from all sources. I have no inside connection other then the FedEx guy that delivers to my dad's store.

I would guess that they are 100% better then not applying at all. Like fishing, you can't catch anything if your line is not in the water. One time $50.00 fee, that is if you update your profile within a year. No big deal.

CRJ,

Honestly, there's probably not much chance, if any without a rec. In fact these days it takes more than just a rec or 5, but will probably take someone walking a resume in to the CP to get noticed. Sounds brutal, but that seems to be what it takes lately.

Help! Help! Help!

I just got the call from KD today (voice mail). I think I will be offered an interview when I call her back on Monday. I am looking for any and all interview intel. I would LOVE to here from those of you who interviewed in the past few months. Please PM me. Thank you!

Hmm, no FLL bases...That means a life commuting...Not moving away from my sailboat and the next door Bahama Islands.
You can sail at Pickwick, and the insurance will be a hell of a lot cheaper. Of course, it'll take you a bit longer to get to the Bahamas. ;) :D
