Heard a rumour that FedEx might get the Postal Service International contract and will need to hire 800 pilots this year, starting in the spring. Any truth to this?
Yeah, that's certainly the short answer. Latest from the Chief Pilot is that nothing is pending, and even if it was, the Int'l mail would just be filling empty hulls on return legs and not impact crew or a/c requirements. The current official word is basically hiring for attrition this year, probably 100 or so, but who really knows. Once things turn around look for good things. Asia esp. China is poised for big time expansion. Anybody's guess on that, my crystal ball is down at the moment!
