Civilian or military it makes no difference. I'm 100% civilian and I made it. Both routes are good ones just weigh the pros and cons of each and decide what fits you the best.

What? You've got to be kidding! For every civilian hired there I'll bet they hire 8 military! You're a rare exeption.

I was just curious about what would be a good career path to get to Fedex. I am looking about 5-10 years down the road. My parents are friends with a current Fedex pilot and I talk to him on occasion. He is more than willing to write a letter of recomendation down the line.

I am currently a struggling CFI building time. Once I get some competative time I was thinking about applying with MAC or something similar to build some turbine time. Then try to move up to a job flying jets. I think I am one of the few that do not want to work for a regional (no offense). I assume Fedex wants alot of heavy jet time in the logbook.

Any advice would be helpful from people who have gone the civilian route to Fedex. Thanks in advance.

You'll make it to FedEx kid! If you're asking these kinds of questions this early in your career, you'll make it. Attitude really does determine your Altitude in Aviation or any other career. Just Keep the Faith.

Best of Luck. :)

Hmmm....I got all that and then some.....been waiting for over 2 years....I'm thinking " Female, Military " might not be too off the mark.

Interesting......

Hmmmmm, let's see.......

I have been applying over 4.5 years (well before 9/11)
I have gone to the FedEx booth sucking up every year at the Women in Aviation conference for the last 5 years
I have well over the required 1000 PIC turbine
I have jet experience
I have a sponsor at FedEx
I am a FEMALE

No call yet.

I guess you are WAY off the mark.

Yeah? What's wrong with that? I can play a mean metal riff. If I put on a blue suit, ya think that will help?

add clean cut with no tatoos or earrings is a start...Ozzy is the only heavy metal guy I could stomach (and that was only after he did the TV show).

I did have a fedex recruiter tell me personally "if you didn't fly in the military then it is going to be much harder to get on here. You better have some line pilots pulling real hard for you."
