////////FedEx plane goes off Ky. runway
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- A FedEx Corp. plane went off the runway at Louisville International Airport Thursday after the pilot aborted the takeoff, airport officials said.
"There's no apparent aircraft damage, no injuries," airport spokeswoman Trish Burke said.
The 727 cargo plane with a crew of three was scheduled to fly to Memphis, Tenn., where the company is based. FedEx officials said they had no details about the accident.
FAA spokesman Les Dorr said it wasn't immediately clear why the pilot stopped the takeoff.
FedEx changed its training regimen for flight crews after a 2003 incident when a FedEx jet caught fire after landing at the airport in Memphis. The National Transportation Safety Board faulted the pilot and flight captain. A FedEx crew also was blamed by the NTSB for a 2002 accident at the Tallahassee Airport.
Hutchman said:"12 boxes were taken to the hospital as a precaution. A group from palet 7 plan on filing a lawsuit for being rebooked on the next flight."

Marko Ramius said:While I certainly have no idea what was/is going at Louisville, was it confirmed that this was an aborted takeoff by anyone other than airport and FAA spokespeople? I ask because looking at the video and referencing the 10-9 for SDF, it looks like they plane went off the east side of 17L just north of taxiway D2. It looks like the Fedex cargo ramp is on the other side of the field, why would they be departing to memphis on the left side vs. the right? Was 17R closed, because there doesn't seem to be any other reason to chose the left? There also seems to be a (relatively) good amount of runway left when they departed the edge at almost a 90 deg. angle with all the gear appearing to be intact. Could it have been an arriving a/c from somewhere else that had some sort of a mishap on rollout?

Marko Ramius said:How so Ashy? I have no idea what happened, said so, and didn't speculate as to what went wrong. I was just wondering if it was a takeoff or landing incident and said why-the media has been known to pooch it up before. I wasn't trying to make an X-file out of it.
WorldOnTime said:Guess I was just impressed by your analysis! I will be curious too, could be a number of things. If they shelled an engine, that can cause asymetrical thrust problems, leading to directional control. OR, if the engines spooled up asymetrically on the abort, that can lead to problems. Just glad they are ok.
That's a knee slapper :laugh:Brian a300 said:Hope they weren't discussing the new contract..

Great video coverage. Looking at the skid marks from the right landing gear it looks like the plane was sideways before leaving the side of the runway.
