Were those guys in that picture some of the original Flying Tigers of WWII fame?

PHXFLYR:cool:

I don't recognize any of these guys but there were a few pilots that had flown in the AVG still on the seniority list when I was there in the mid sixties. Tigers had a cast of characters that could have only found on some back lot of a movie studio. I wished now I had paid more attention to the history and less attention to chasing women in those days. The guy that checked me out as a Connie co-pilot was named Wayne Peak. He was not an AVG guy, but he flew Spitfires for the Israelis during there war of independence against the British. He was buried a few years ago with honors in Israel and he was not even Jewish. Certainly a great group of avaitors.

flyingtigerline.org is an excellent website. Great pictures.

Sorry for the thread hijack, but, I did a paper on the Flying Tigers. There is some great reading on their founding, etc. One called Tiger Tales was written by a long time Tiger Captain. I highly recommend it.

Arrghhhh!
You all are no help.

:smash:
Baron,

I ran into a MEM mech, who was on the A-380 acceptance team, at a park last July while my kids played. He told me then, that the company was not impressed with the A-380 progress at that time and that FEDEX had secretly placed 10 option orders for the B-747-8. Since FDX ordered 77s, I thought the probability of the company continuing to look at the 74 would be zero. It is good to hear this rumor swirling again.

Wouldn't you think the 757 and 777 would be a big enough biscuit for the training department to bite into right now?

A kind of interesting thing I found about FTL: I worked for an aerial photography company at KSNA which operated a Cessna 182 which was orange with white and black stripes. I asked my boss about the crazy colored paintjob and if it had been painted by him or if he bought it that way. He mentioned that he bought it that way and the previous owner had the plane registered to reflect his birthday. The plane is N328L. I did some research and this is who I found to have owned the plane.

I think it's a pretty neat thing that while he may not be flying anymore, his personal plane is still soaring in the sky. It is really a shame FTL isn't around.

Fly safe!
