"The WIA is funded by the Federal Government, so you are not limited to your state or county. Some counties are not honoring the pilot training; so if I were you just go to another state, or county that is honoring pilot training. "

72Longhorn are you sure about this? I would like to know a point of contact at a federal level that I could talk to about this since I've talked to the point of contact here in the state of Florida and they say they aren't doing it any more. They paid for a whopping ten type ratings then ran out of funds and the program has yet to be re-funded. I've had a couple of job offers contingent on getting my own type rating, yeah right while on furlough.

Thanks for your help

DAL737FO,

Yes, the money is provided by the Federal Government and given to each state. The state then sends different amounts to each county within the state, and the counties control the money in what ever fashion they want. Some places will honor the pilot training, but only pay a certain amount, while others pay 100%.

My point was that you don't have to go to your local office. You can go to any office, in or out of your state. The counties, however, would like to keep the money in their back yard, so they make it tougher for you to get, but trust me it can be attained.

If your local Employment office won't give it to you, find out by calling the school, and they'll tell you which counties are giving it up and how much they are paying for it.

Good luck!

72Longhorn
