Anyone know anything about them? I have a friend I am trying to help get in there. They have a Lear 45 based at our airport. The guys look pretty happy, just they are never there to talk to.

Thanks

Do a quick search, this topic comes up every couple of months

You go though an interview like you are going to fly main line.
After you get hired you spend three years on the corp. side then you have the option to go fly main line or stay corp.

Where are the bases?

What are the bases? Are you kidding me?

I talked to one fedex corp guy and he said you need the same flight times required of mainline. Why you would work on the corp side for alot less wages doesn't make sense unless you keep the seniority #.

Aside from the obvious answer of Memphis, it isn't a bad question. They keep at least one 45 at PIT based at the AvCenter. I believe there's another 45 base in northwest Arkansas which used to be associated with a trucking company FedEx bought.

Quality of Life maybe?? Flying for an airline -- even Fedex -- "ain't all that".

CL(stuck in airline he!!)

Fed Ex Corp

It is PIT, not AGC. From what I see/heard, the FedEx Corporate is a pretty cake job. I talked to a couple of them. They don't do much flying from the PIT base. Mostly just to MEM and back. I think they have to rotate down to MEM occasionally to cover vacations.

FEDEX Corp. Dept.

The intent of this message is to clear up some of the mis-information that has been expressed in previous posts.

I flew FedEx Corp. for approximately 4 years and I can tell you this is one of the best jobs in the Corporate environment. There are currently 11 aircraft in the fleet with crew bases in MEM, PIT, HRO (Harrison, AR.), and DAL.

Yes, the interview is the same as the mainline and you must spend a minimum of three years flying corporate before you may step over to mainline flying.

Also; there are two entry level positions for this department. One may get hired as a "Light Jet Captain" or as a "Heavy Jet Captain". These classifications are merely seperated for pay purposes and do not necessarily dictate the type of aircraft one will fly. However; the hiring minimums are different. 'Light jet captain' requires 1500 hours total time and 500 hours of turbine experience (preferably jet time). The 'Heavy jet captain' position requires 1500 hours total time and 1000 hours as PIC turbine time. This may help explain why someone might find it beneficial to seek employment at the FedEx corporate department vs. the mainline. It allows an individual to continue to build PIC time while employed by FedEx.

Aircraft fleet: 1 Global Express, 3 Challengers, & 7 Learjet 45's.

Surely people aren't actually getting hired as Captains with this kind of time are they?

Knew a few corporate guys who tried to get on, from what I hear, its one tough nut to crack. If you can get an interview, you're lucky.

Thanks FECAV8R for clarifying things. There is a lot of misinformation out there....

The pilots are "FedEx" pilots, but they are totally separate from the freight side. They are non-union and are not on the FedEx seniority list.

From what I've heard, it's one of the best gigs in corporate aviation. The pay is OK, the schedule is great, and it's a fun place to work. That being said, it's not perfect.....but there is a great group of people working to improve the department.

And, I hear they are hiring.......

The Chief Pilot on the Corporate side is actually a pretty nice guy. He responded to a resume I sent about 1-1/2 ago by personally writing me an email. He responded quickly and basically told me he was fully staffed at the time. I definitely respect the personal hands-on touch as opposed to what usually happens .... you just never hear anything back, either way.
