When you are stuck with someone for a month you end up talking alot or I do. I knew his treatment and he is done with radation but he he should not be flying yet. I have been there and done that. When I did have cancer other pilot told me not to report it. I thought better of it. for my family because if something happen down the road it will come out in the end. and that is what I am trying to tell him and this is not working and it is tearing me up inside.
Call your buddy up and ask him if he is cleared medically to fly. "Dude, I had cancer previously and know the stress that entails. Are you clear to fly medically--everything kosher?" If he says yes, that's as far as I would pursue it. Fly with him, you've done your due dilligence. If he says no, tell him you are not comfortable flying with him until he is cleared. It's not just about the pilots--we've got an awesome responsibility and duty to the folks in the back. And your bud should not be putting you in this position.
