Yes I was recomended, and I first applied about 6 months ago.
In the briefing they gave at the interview they said if you dont have a rec you probably wont get a call. It sounded like the best chance of getting a call was to get the rec and go to an AirInc conference and talk to them face to face.
And by the way, the call I got was to offer me a job. I interviewed on Feb 6.
Facts on the 20th class. AIRTRAN is looking for 22 in class..right now only 20 hired for the class. 2 pilots are PIEDMONT Captains and 1 a furloughed Airborne pilot and former PIEDMONT Captain all who I recommended. 1 pilot is a furloughed F/O from USAIR. Others various....Midway...Eagle..ect . There are 2 interview classes on the 18th and 19th. There will be a class of 9 in March. probably starting around the 12th. Real hiring numbers are at around 5000 TT with 1000 pic. Captain 121 time really helpes. Recommendations carry alot of weight. I know ...I was recommended and I personally have gotten many guys a interview.
I have an interview on the 18th. Don't know anyone at airtran. I went to airinc to meet them personally (thought this was my only chance of getting an interview and it worked). have good 121 captain time and they told me that helps alot too.
I interviewed on the 6th and got the call on the 12th for the groundschool starting on the 20th. Thats 3 weeks and 1 day from the call to interview to the start of class. Ive heard that they normally make the call to offer jobs on Wednesdays but I dont have any conformation on that.
