Ok, now that I have everybody's attention, I have a plea to the FedEx drivers out there in cyberspace.
Please keep in mind that we are in contract negotiations and there is no telling who might be trolling on these boards and reading the stuff we write.
In light of that, boasting about making millions of dollars and having 5 day layovers and only flying 20 block hours per year in order to convince some one who bad mouths cargo flying that we have it better than the pax guys is probably not worth the possibe downside.
What we should be focusing on is how much time with our families we give up in order to keep the freight moving at FedEx and how much more we deserve to be compensated by the company for doing so.
We should not forget the constant battle against the clock to maintain schedule or the chronic fatigue due to hub turns, backside of the clock flying and multiple time zone crossings.
We spend a lot of time on the road, away from our families, flying all over the world at all hours of the day and night. It is a good job, but a very demanding one that requires constant vigilance and professionalism. We deserve to be paid well to help FedEx achieve the high level of profitability that it has enjoyed for the past 5 years specifically and 30 or so overall.
Remember all this please before you post in our continuing efforts to paint this demanding lifestyle in the kindest light possible in order to recruit other pilots to consider our company for employment. The smart ones will figure out that if the company continues to pay us for our sacrifices that it would be worth their while to apply and consider an offer from FedEx.
Our negotiating committee speaks for us!
Thanks for your time and consideration.
