CaptainMark

A bud ran into some guys interviewing the other day and they were current pilots at other carriers...i thought we were only interviewing furloughed guys...anybody know what is up..i know we are looking into hiring into the MD..does this change that philosophy?????

Actively Employed Major Airline Pilots interviewing at FedEx

I heard an unsubstantiated rumor that current "major airline" pilots with MD-11 experience were being interviewed for a class (or classes) that will go directly to the right seat of the MD-11 after the MOAB. Airlines mentioned were Gemini, and other "contract" cargo carriers that fly the MD-11. Once again, just a rumor that is probably worth the paper it was written on (a verbal conversation).

Be the Ball Danny.

Did they have sponsors?

Capt,

FedEx is interviewing SWA, UPS and other active major pilots. Furloughed guys are being interviewed now but weren't a year ago. Regional types are showing up in droves.

Many military types being interviewed, off active duty and reservists.

Your schtick just isn't that entertaining dude. Do you have any other material? Maybe it's time to invent a new user profile...

I wasn't trying to be funny. Sorry if I was on the wrong thread. I'll be careful next time. What is funny about having a sponsor??? I feel like I am blessed to have one.

Sorry for the ignorance, but what is the MOAB?

Mother Of All Bids!!
Thanks CaptainMark. BTW, I hope the FedEx guys get everthing they want in a new contract. You guys are entitlied to every penny you are asking for.

However, if you do any informational picketing in MEM, LAX, ANC, ect, I wouldn't put on your sign that you made $22,000 last month.

Ooops, wrong thread!

well that is where we differ...$22,000 is only a portion of what we should be paid..unlike some others on this board i think all pilots should be paid substantially more...it is sad that 22,000/month is what Tigers pilots were making in 1981..but when people sign up to fly for way less and are offended by people making 22,000/month..we are headed in the wrong direction...

What started as a little ribbing has now deteriorated into this.

It's great you are a Captain for FedEx and all. But you obviously don't have very good reading/comprehension skills. Reread my post and tell me where I differed with your view point. I never said I was offended by what you make. And yes, it is pathetic that people take jobs that pay so little. It's also pathetic that wide body captains at UAL, DAL, NWA, ect are willing to do it for much less than what you make, especially after you get a new contract

I do think it was a little pathetic to go into the regional section and boast about it to a bunch of guys that are not going to break in a year what you get in one month. Unless you had a rich mommy and daddy, all those guys are proabably just like YOU when breaking into this career and eventually getting to spend 11 years at FedEx making $22,000 a month. It's truly pathetic when certain people forget where they came from. Pilots are their own worst enemies.

I said that you guys are fully entitled to everything your MEC is asking for.

I simply said that if you do informational picketing, I don't think that having "I made $22,000 last month" is going to garner much public support.

Wow CaptianMark, you sure are the sensitive type. I'll bet flying a trip with you is a real pleasure.

Actually, you started it by not reading what I originally wrote and saying that you and I differ, hence not comprehending what was written. Then going off about the sad state of wages in the industry. What kind of pay were you willing to accept at that cargo job? Maybe you should re-read it again and then actually think this time before you type.

You are the one that got on a pedastal and boasted about making 22,000 grand in a month. Why are you worried about what the regional guys are making? Maybe you should stick to worrying about YOURSELF, and get off your $22,000 a month pedastal. I'm down here on my $20,000 a year floor mat, that's after taking a pay cut, followed by a downgrade, then a dispalcement, and finally a furlough, and starting at the bottom of another list.

And in the words of Bill O'Reilly: "Go ahead, I'll give you last word"

Thanks HarleyVol and PurpleTail. Terra Patrick is hot.

Hey Everybody!!! Watch this!!!

(Here's me rescuing this thread from purgatory)

So... I was wondering why FedEx abandoned the 747 after they purchased Tigers. If an outfit like Atlas can field a -400, and so can Brown, then certainly FedEx could. I've heard that they are needing some serious lift, and that would be some serious lift. Brown is going to use both the 380 and the -400. Plus, I don't think that the 380 is a completely known quantity with it's difficulties in certification.

So what do you guys think?

TSD

P.s......

I love you guys.......

But not in that brokeback uppercrust way....

Oh yeah...and for those of you that can't see humor if it hit you in the face like an ill thrown Pike's Place Market salmon....

I'm KIDDING!!!!

He does this all the time. He loves Hi-jacking SWA threads. He always saying lots of mean and hurtful things to the Fine Pilots of Southwest.

I think it's because we use common canisters for the widebodies, so the extra couple of feet at the top of the 74 would just be wasted space. If we're going to have to design/buy/store/maintain bigger cans it's going to be a large marginal improvement(the A380), not just a small step up to the 74. That's not a jab at the 74, just my interpretation of the business side of this. Some more experienced guys may be able to confirm or refute this.

loving life,
nfg
