I was told by an insider that the domicile will actually be in a neighboring country, either Switzerland or Southern Germany. The Frenchies still don't want us in Paris.

Huck if you pay french taxes will you be given a personummer or tax id so that you can recieve government services? Or is this one of these you pay us but you don't get crap from us?

Thanks for all the information. Also could you the french come after you in any US holdings you might have and tax you?

Germany would be a nice move too if CDG doesn't work out. Switzerland is nice but very very expensive. Just look at the ramp at LSGG. More GV's than you could shake a stick at.

I suspect there will be have both very senior and very junior crew members.

This is reflective of our current makeup of SIBA. The lines for SIBA go senior most months of the year. The Siba reserve and VTO tends to be junior, and it is not unheard of for inverse seniority to force some crewmembers during the winter into SIBA.

I suspect this will be the makeup if it becomes a base.

Mil guys never have had to pay taxes to foreign governments, and I'm surprised to hear that Fedex guys would have to pay french taxes. I know zero about this topic, but it just seems wrong on the surface. I agree, though, this would be a dealbreaker for just about everyone! Who the heck wants to pay for the European welfare system?? I can pay my own government to support illegal immigrants, I don't need to pay someone else's government to support their illegal immigrants.

Deuce,
You'd also probably be the first guy to complain if a Frenchman came to the US to work ("taking" a job from an American), sent his kids to public school, drove on the roads, etc. and didn't pay taxes. What goes around, comes around. Besides, you'd get to claim a $80K foreign earned income exclusion off of your AGI for US Federal taxes, which you don't get to do when overseas in the military.
