Anyone been thru FlightSafety DA50 training at Dallas and TEB and can recall what FMS is in the sim?

If you go to Dallas, which I would not reccommend, DO NOT let them give you a sim instructor who is about 70 years old with a German accent. He is horrible, has no clue what he is doing, no situational awareness, and will put his mistakes off on you. I had him for a job evaluation and he is worthless.

TEB has a stellar reputation for excellent Falcon training. You'd be hard pressed to find anyone that has a bad thing to say about the TEB facility.

The FA50 at Dallas has 2 Universal FMS. They might be 1Cs. They are modern but I am just not sure of the exact model.

Its been my experience during my initial SIM training that the FMS is hardly used. You will be flying multiple precision approaches with everything on fire, so I wouldn't worry about it. The guys at TEB show you the Basic set up for the FMS. Yo learn the FMS when you get on the line. I wouldn't sweat it much. I've done type rides on the CE650, DA50, and 900EX all with FMS. Good luck.

I'm at FS TEB right now for a small eternity and will poke my head in the sim tomorrow for ya. It's no trouble, believe me I've got the time!!!!!!!

While you're at it, can you check what avionics package they use (i.e., EFIS 85 or 86, Pro Line 4)?
I'm assuming it has EFIS?

Thanks,

HMR

First one's free but after that...........

Yes the 50 Sim has EFIS. I assume (hate that word) that it has the same SPZ-8000 that the 900B has which I learned lots about today in day 1 of avionics. Whoo baby.

I'll take a look. PM me and I'll give you the proper spelling of my last name and an address that you send the check to.

PS: Where's the best italian food in TEB, cost not being an issue?

I too am at FSI - people like illvillagio for italian. Was there tonight and not crowded at all.

aiiight...now we talking...fark sim, lets hit the wine and eat!

take a left out of FSI parking lot, go over RT 17 up to the top of the hill in Hasbrouck Heights. Take a left here on the Blvd. Go down a few miles until you reach a large intersection (forget then name..there will be a diner on your right/corner) Go right here, go up about a mile or so and there is a small Italian place on the left..parking is across the street on your right, they have their own little lot..

Sorry, I forget the name..any locals at FSI might know.

Not much to look at, not too pricy (2 of us did about $120 with a bottle of vino) but some real good food. Old school type place. Waitresses with a lot of makeup that call you "honey".

**EDITED***

just checked out my expense account and its called Jerry's and is in East Rutherford.

Once I stopped flying charter I did a complete memory dump of anything related to TEB. However, if you drive a couple hours southeast to Long Beach Island, NJ; my aunt will make you the best linguini and lobster you've ever had.;)

I thought the 900 and 50 shared a type rating? Do they separate the classes and have separate sims? It looks like we'll be out there soon for 50 school. Any FSI TEB gouge is appreciated.

Have fun!

seperate initials, but your type says "DA50". You will have 50 ground school and 50 sim.

I think you just need a quick differences to fly either.

Initial will be boring. The DA is a very very simple aircraft (nice!)

no great hotels really, but the Renaissance in Rutherford is an easy commute and is decent. The Marriott in Teaneck is not as nice IMHO but has a terriffic health club is you need a good gym.

I do not think the 50 ever got the SPZ-8000 suite. Why I don't know because that is a great system. In the 50 sim Efis 86 (possibly 85) will be found. Any FMS can be found; I have seen NZ2K, UNS, and Collins 6100s. It all depends on which aircraft s/n the sim was modeled after. The 50EX will have a 4 tube Proline 4 with EICAS. FMS is a customer option. Retro 50s from Garrett SPI will have the Pro-line 21 in them, and I have sat in a couple that have that layout, and it is a very efficient and clean setup.

Correct! The 50 never did get the SPZ8000..Only for the B....The 50 at TEB should have the Collins..I believe it can be swapped out for the UNS model if you choose...

G200 Man, you should come and visit(represent) at the TEB campus more often!!!!....There should be some MAJOR changes for you next time back....:pimp:

Sounds like "Wind Shear" Willie to me!

I had him for a recurrent once. Had no problem with him, although the sim kept breaking.

In regard to some of the posts about the 50 and SPZ-8000, I don't remember the exact number but there certainly are a few 50s with Sperry EFIS. I don't recall if it was an 8000, but if it's not it's pretty close. I doubt if that avionics package was ever put in a sim, though.

Both of the 50 sims I've flown (Simuflite and FSI DFW) were EFIS-86, but it's been a few years.

I miss the 50!
