Personally I would prefer to go to a Cub than anything else. Aww, thats it... a nice peaceful Cub over the plains in day VFR with a tailwind and not a bump in the sky.

I doubt that any Falcon pilot could hope to go directly to Emirates. As many of you know, there IS NO pilot shortage. The naysayers assure me that Emirates is parking airplanes and furloughing pilots left and right.

Here is a glimpse of the current situation.

They must be definitely drastically short on crews. Initial application Nov 15th, placed on the shortlist Nov 17th, invited to initial interview in Atlanta U.S. on Nov 23rd. TT 3700, 2000 jet, A320 current and typed. Pretty exited.

Emirates Airlines looks to double Airbus A380 order to 110


DUBAI (Thomson Financial) - Dubai-based Emirates Airlines wants to double its order of 55 Airbus A380 super jumbo jets when airport capacity in its home base permits, its president Tim Clark said today.

"I want to double (the number of A380s on order)" from the European aircraft maker, Clark told reporters.

Requirements for Position of Direct Entry Captain
  • A minimum of 8,000 hours total flying time
  • A minimum of 3,000 hours in command of multi-crew, multi-engine jet aircraft in excess of 55 tonnes MTOW
  • 4,000 hours flown in multi-crew, multi-engine jet or turbo prop aircraft with MTOW of 10 tonnes or more, as P1 or P2
  • Preference will be given to candidates with Boeing EFIS experience who will be eligible to undertake a short transition course
  • Must be a current Captain
  • First Officers, qualified as Cruise Captains, do not meet the Direct Entry Captain requirements
  • ICAO ATPL
  • English language fluency (written and verbal comprehension)
Requirements for Position of First Officer - A330/A340 and B777
  • A minimum of 4,000 hours total flying time
  • A minimum of 2,000 hours multi-crew, multi-engined jet aircraft experience
  • ICAO ATPL
  • English language fluency (written and verbal comprehension)
  • Experience commensurate with age
  • Type rated would be advantageous
Retirement Age

Emirates is pleased to advise that the retirement age for pilots has been increased from 60 to 65 years (i.e. pilots will be eligible to work up to their 65th birthday).

Short of our Minimum Hours Requirement?

Due to high levels of interest expressed by candidates who are close to our minimum hours requirements, we are pleased to announce that we will now accept and review applications from candidates for First Officer positions who do not yet meet our published minimum hours requirements.

Candidates who are up to 500 hours below total and/or multi-engine jet hours are invited to submit their applications and may be offered the opportunity to attend a selection programme in Dubai.

Successful candidates must, however, meet published minimum hours requirements prior to joining.

Direct Entry Captain requirements remain unchanged.
