This is a continuation from an earlier thread, thanks in advance for all the help.

Need numbers for Wastonville, CA (WVI)

Hypothetical 27C day

elevation 160'

runway length 4501

What type of performance / range can I expect from a Falcon 50?

would -40 motors increase t/o performance?

Max TO weight= 36970
on our plane BOW=22200
so youv'e got around 14500lb useful load.
say 6 pax and bags=1500lbs
you're left with 11,000lbs of fuel.
That's around 4 hours of flight with a 2000lb reserve.

Yes, indirectly... While they are all rated at the same 3,700 lbs thrust (however the -40's are flat rated to a lot higher temp than the -3's)... You have to look at it another way. Since the -40 motors are more efficient, they will fly farther on the same fuel, so you can either carry less fuel for the same trip (reducing your T/O weight which in turn reduces your take off roll) or you can go farther on the same fuel load (which is the equivalent of improving take off distance vs. the longer run required by the old motors carry the extra fuel they need for the same trip).

The 50EX is definately the way to go if you can afford it...

What's the noise difference in that regard?

I was sitting by the pool watching jets of all types fly out and the three loudest were: Sabreliner, MD-80, Falcon 50/900.

Not bashing or anything, just wondering if it is ever an issue coming out of noise sensitive places like KSMO...

The newer Falcons (50EX/900EX) are quieter than their predecessors...

As far as KSMO is concerned, never drop in there uninvited in a G-V... It raises some eyebrows!

No kidding? I thought the G-V was pretty quiet for its size. :)
Oh, it is VERY quiet, we were 10 dB below even the very tight KSMO noise limits both on arrival and departure... It's the size they didn't like!

They think Big=Loud. That's what happens when you have non-aviation folks talking out of their rear ends about things they know nothing about.

I have stood 15 feet from a BBJ APU and had a conversation without raising my voice. They are really dampening the sound on these new units.
