thanks,

On a semi-related note, can someone tell me where to find the NBAA salary surveys? I'm don't work for an NBAA member company so I can't get to most of the good stuff on their website, and while I scammed a copy of the '03 member directory CD-ROM (which has a lot of extras on it) it isn't on there either. Is there anywhere else I can find this, or should I just post my pay questions here for you guys?;)

Without any specifics I’d say a DA50 pilots are starting out at $80K. Now realize that some of the early 50’s are now selling for under $6M, it’s certainly possible that some crappy operators might start SIC’s out at less than $30K. On the other hand it’s not unheard of to have New York based 900 captains making more than $160K.

Regarding the NBAA salary survey, it’s pretty hard to get. Try finding someone that has access to it, or become an NBAA yourself and order it.

I could use some of that NY based $160k love!!!

Now coming from someone who's interviewed on both coasts and in the middle of the country in the past three years my experiences MIGHT be fairly representative.

Socal DA-50 Capt. p 91 $90k
Norcal DA-900 Capt. p91 $110k
NY area DA-50 Capt. p91 $110k
Rocky Mtns. DA50 Capt. p91 $90k
FLL area DA-50 Capt. p91 $90k
Chicago DA-900 Capt p91 $95k

Hope it helps!!

501261,

PLEASE post those operators who pay 160K+ for a 900 PIC in the NYC area...

I want to call before RICE does!

Hey man, that's what he says he makes, and judging by the size of his Hatteras(sp) 53' I'd tend to believe him, granted his 900 is "a starter, till the real airplane gets built".

F/O ???

Thanks to all for the replies. From the numbers you guys posted,I am guessing that a pilot who is typed by the operator during his initial training but is only employed as an F/O would expect to make about 60K. Does that sound about right? (by the way, it ain't New York or Cali).

WHOA!!!! HOLD ON THERE PAL!

I know that just about everyone says that the Pro Pilot survey is bogus (and it probably is) but since its the only reference I have at hand.........

DA-900 F/O pay is: $76k High / $55k Low / $69k Avg, and thats 2003 info.
A well known poster on this board has repeatedly stated that his company starts new hire F/O's at $80k for the 50 and 900. (midwest location) Just my two cents but don't low ball it, you not only hurt yourself but all who follow. Hey if the guy can afford a $16-$30 mil aircraft he should be able to handle a decent wage.
Disclaimer: FAMOUS LAST WORDS!!!!!!

Didnt mean to offend you Rice. In fact the numbers you just posted seem more reasonable, but like you said, famous last words.

Luck and jobs

Funny story about this guy.

I was at an NBAA PDP in 2002 and got to talking to the guy next to me.

Pure dumb luck is the story; he had an average job flying a 604 when out of the blue a headhunter calls him up asking him to come interview for a job.

Well eventually he gets the job, turns out its a Billionaire that’s been flying airlines all his life, finally gets sick of TSA and simply decides to buy a GV. Well after buying the GV, he decides he'd rather wait for a 550 (but he'd have to wait 2 years), so he simply buys a 900EX for the 2 years till the 550 is ready.

Some guys have all the luck! Though I must say couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy.
