Just wondering if there's any report(s) I can have run to obtain old medical applications, 8710s, etc? Also wondering if there's any use for such records?

Is this something that I should have at home in case something happens? Kind of like having the logbooks at home?

Thanks

you keep the logbook at home?

I always have it with me on every flight. :/

As for old medicals... i still have my very first one from 4 years ago. ;)

Of course...why take it with me? If something happens (I hit a deer, run off the runway, whatever) I want to have at least some time to get my "times" in order. If I've got it in the plane, then all the FAA (NTSB?) guy has to do is go "oh hey, look at this...". Not that it makes a whole hoot of a difference, but I'd rather come home, print off a recent copy and take that to them...

The only time I have the logbook with me in the plane (now that I don't have to worry about the student pilot stuff) is if I'm flying with an instructor and I will need his/her signature for the flight.

As far as medicals...I have the actual certificate, but I'm wondering if there's any way to get ahold of the form you have to fill out, (what is it, the 9300 something??? I don't know the number...) and give to the AME...you know, the one saying how old you are and what your name is and such...

You should get a carbon copy of the medical forms after you've taken your medical.

I've made copies of every 8710 and knowledge test that I've submitted. Something that you could start doing from this point...

I'm with mini on the logbooks

So does that mean that when I didn't get a copy of my medical form, I screwed myself by not requesting one or is there still a chance to get it?

The Feds keep the 8710s on file don't they? So I could just go back and get a copy of those correct? How about written test forms?

I would assume that you could. You may get some puzzled questions from the folks at the FAA.

I should also qualify my previous post. I don't have all my 8710s, medical reports, or knowledge tests. I think that I have everything Commercial and afterward.

That's what I'd be worried about. Almost like making more trouble for myself than I need to.

Honestly, I just want to have the copy on file where I know it is in case something does happen to me. I guess, I just don't trust anyone enough with something like that. Particularly the government.

You can request a copy of your complete airman file from the FAA. I did it some years ago before a big interview.

I am looking through it now and it has a copy of every 8710 form, the temporary certificates issued, every written result, and every mediical application up to that point. Correction: only the previous 3 years medicals are there.

They do charge you for it......mine was $4.30.

I can't, however, find the address to make such a request with the FAA. I am sure somebody else here has it, or their website will probably say.

Just a word of caution ... don't be surprised if you discover that half your stuff is missing from your unbelievably important, official files in OK. I had to recreate my life history and suffer a full federal background investigation by the FAA last year and my files were found to be almost completely empty when they first started nosing around. Where'd all my stuff go, they asked me. I said "How the h@ll should I know? I live in North Carolina ... I didn't fly to OK and steal it! They were in YOUR file cabinet."

F@cking federal government and their $hit-bag contractors. The FAA and the IRS could break an anvil in a sand pit ... with a rubber hammer.

You can get a copy of your complete medical or airman files including all forms that you have filled out, at least for the last ten years by writing a signed letter requesting a complete copy of your airman or medical file to:

PO Box 25082
