Does any of you guys know when the FAA is going to introduce pilot licenses with photo id? I think it’s a good idea. Especially for CPL and ATP tickets.

Why's that? So we don't have to have about 6000 pieces of paper on us at all times!?!?!

Congress just passed a bill mandating the FAA to implement photos on certificates within one year. Haven't heard any details about how they're going to do that, other than that AMEs will be one way to get the photos taken.

My Pilot Certificates already have photos on them. It is up to you to determine which guy you look more like - the bald guy without the moustache or the not-so-bald guy with the moustache.

Any chance they could just combine my Drivers license with my medical/pilots license?

Like...I go in every 6mos/year for my medical and have to have a new photo taken which comes out in a new "Driver License" which has an "Airplane SE/ME Land" Commercial "endorsement" and "Instrument Airplane" "rating"? Then just the fact that I have a current license proves my medical is current? How would that work?

I updated my ticket online (removed ssn) and theres an option there for them to pull your photo from your states dmv file, which is what i did, but when i got the new fancy plastic license, it didn't have a pic on it, dunno whats up with that.....

They didn't like you "too ugly, not a pilot anymore"

The part of the site that asks for your photo ID information is not to pull your picture. It is to verify who you are. For example, passport is an option you can select, but those pictures aren't digital.

Not the most secure way of doing this, but it is better than nothing. I am just glad the FAA is starting to let us do some administrative tasks via the internet instead of submitting paperwork.
