My buddy is about the graduate from the Air Traffic Control program at Embry Riddle. During his first year there he drank a lot and thought he may have had an alcohol problem. He checked himself into an outpatient rehab hospital to get treatment. He found out he simply he was not an alcoholic, he just needed to cut down on partying. Well he did and 3 years later hes graduating Riddle with a very high GPA!
My question is will the FAA be able to see he was in a rehab hospital during their extensive background check? Or can they just see things like arrests and convictions, bad credit, etc?
If the FAA sees that he was they will not hire him because they will think he has a substance abuse problem.
