I didnt realize this was a contest. I think any video, real or not, made as an F-14 tribute is pretty cool.

BTW, that video is ALL simulator made with Lock On Flaming Cliffs (as noted in my first post) with the exception of a 15 second shot towards the end. It also has a nice tribute displaying many names of pilots i assume who either died in combat or development of the Tomcat.

Either way, it was made by a guy known for excellent work in making combat sim movies. I believe hes a retired fighter jock... but i could be mistaken. Pretty impressive tribute if you ask me Lear Wanna Be.

You're right

JP - the answer to your question was answered correctly - about 18 minutes. We burned 1000 pounds a minutes in AB and carried 20K. The Super Hornet is the replacement and is doing a fine job. Although many of us are partial to the Tom's raw speed and power, the upgrades and avionics of the F-18F are hard to argue.

What day were the last two Tomcat squadrons retired? Was there any special ceremony and stuff like that? Sad to see a legend retire, especially from Grumman iron works!

Not just yet

The last two squadrons, VF31 and VF213, just returned from the last cruise a few weeks ago. They won't retire until an official Tomcat Sunset party in September.

Sweet video, the Tomcat was by far my favorite aircraft. Still have VF-51's patch on the back of my cruise jacket.
