Batman,

Yes I was referring to the Phoenix. Refer to CCDiscoB's post again to answer your question.

"Getting near an F-14 unfortunately is all too easy."

That change is about as gay as 2 men having "relations" (if you know what I mean) so the Navy has to be involved in some way, shape or form.

Hey Rush,
I've seen several of your posts and you seem to have a real problem with Navy guys. What gives? OBTW, the original post referred to a BFM engagement. So by definition both aircraft have survived the merge. In that case I wouldn't want to be in the Tomcat or the Eagle! Can't we all just get along.

TOUCHE' 46Driver!!!!

Most of the time the stiff-wingers on the carrier barely acknowledged we existed unless we hoisted there wet asses out of the drink! Seriously, we had a great relationship with the Hornet drivers, because they were our "Sandies" on CSAR missions and did a lot of flying with them at-sea, Fallon, etc...

The real problem with internet message boards is you don't see the spirit in the words. I have absolutely no problem with the Navy but I do have a problem being serious for more than a couple minutes at a time. My first post in this thread was intended as a jab at a fighter pilot bro because as you know, that's what fighter pilots do. The one you quoted was joke. Most of my posts are not serious in nature and that will probably never change.

I completely agree, I wouldn't want to be in a Tomcat or an Eagle in a turning fight. Give me a Hornet as a foe and we'll make a fight out of it, of course that's considering I get out of this hell I'm currently stuck in and into a real airplane.

i love to throw a few jabs at the AF or Navy when the opportunity arises but being in the Corps, i'd be lucky to just to take-off due to lack of funding, so i'll just sit back and keep my nugget mouth shut ....

Jeez, you step away for the weekend and come back to a full board.

OK, lawn darts can turn, Phoeny Bombs (Phoenix) can burn, but I have to admit the best comment ever came from a helo shipmate during a CSAR brief on my first cruise: "You jet boys talk a big game but you all look the same coming up the rope. Wet, cold and scared."

I'm not going to go too far out on a limb in comparing numbers on a 30+ year old airframe with what's coming off the line now, but the Turkey is a pretty good old bird and if you want to compare numbers on sheer size and power for a fighter - from the AWG-9 in the nose to the blower in the back, it's a pretty impressive piece of machinery. But then so are a lot of others if you're into JP and jet noise. The newer ones just have better toys onboard.

Fun thread that has nothing to do with it's title. Thanks for the memories.

I see Obi-Wan has taught you well....
Seriously though, remember that no matter what you may end up flying - you ended up FLYING. Good luck at OCS and as a SNA.
