I'm no expert but from the way it was briefed to me; PRK "shaves" the top of the eye to reshape it. LASIK cuts the eye to reshape it and the cut may never fully heal. If you have LASIK you can not fly in an ejection seat, because the wind blast may open the cut. I hear this also applies to guys who have jobs which require jumping into water or out of airplanes.
